A bloodthirsty evil has been unleashed. And only one man can stop it...Dan Tate is alone. His PTSD drove his wife away years ago. Now he is left with two children he barely sees, and a head full of nightmares that grow worse each day. But Dan has one very special gift... the spirits of the dead speak to him. With the help of a young ghost, Dan works to bring peace to these restless souls. As Dan struggles to heal his own mental scars, a dark presence grows in the shadowy streets of his small town. Janet Ladd, a greedy and unscrupulous medium, has unleashed a terrifying force of evil from beyond the grave-a violent entity consumed by anger and rage. And as this sinister new ghost begins its bloody rampage, the town is gripped by fear. Panic and chaos consume the local populace, as the police find themselves at a loss to explain the mangled corpses on the streets. As the body count grows, Dan soon finds himself on a collision course with the wrathful spirit. But can Dan summon the strength and resolve needed to banish this wraith back into darkness? Or will his own tortured past drag him into the shadows of death?… (mer)

Something that is very important for the reader to know is that the story takes place in Anger, New Hampshire. Dan is still battling Janet and her ghosts. However, things are getting a lot hotter on the ghostly front. The evil seems to be growing. I kept wondering if Dan would be able to handle it all with everything he was going through. He still battles his PTSD. He has the help of the local sheriff who is also a distant relative to the young ghost boy Eli. They ban together to try to save the city that is being terrorized by the ghosts that Janet has unleashed on them.

It seems like each book in Ron Ripley’s “Tortured Souls” series is getting better. That is definitely what I enjoy in a good series. ( )

Janet Ladd is at it again and I think that her greedy ways might be her undoing as she tries to get houses by having her ghosts doing whatever she says, especially with a demented Sister Ann who loves to kill children! Dan Tate takes care of the local cemetery and because of his PTSD, he is not comfortable around people, he sees, talks with ghosts and has them help when they are needed. A coming to Jesus moment when Dan and Janet face off pitting their ghosts to fight for each of them. Dan recently inherited a proper house where he can have his kids spend weekends with him with his ex-wife's approval, but there is an evil ghost named Henry who enjoys running through the woods of Anger terrorizing anyone foolish enough to be there! Is this the end? Can Dan save his family and his town? ( )

Love this series. Keeps getting better. Fast paced with believable characters. Enjoyable read. Looking forward to the next book in the series. ( )

The continuing story of Anger, New Hampshire. What I found intriguing about the second book in the series is how Ron Ripley can create a very clear picture of a character in one short chapter. He introduces a variety of people, alive and dead, who really start to fill out the small town of Anger. He adds plot twists, too - specifically new things that the ghosts can do. Again, when I reached the end of the book I went right on to the next. ( )

This is the second installment of the series and was provided, along with the first book, with my early reviewers copy of the third book. I was heavily engaged in this book the whole time. The newly introduced ghost is brutal and there was a deeply disturbing scene or two. If you like horror, this series is fantastic! ( )
