It wasn’t the typical enemies to lovers trope but best friends to true love. Harper is frustrated with all the pomp and circumstance that comes with wedding planning, which is ironic since her mom owns a bridal shop. Theo is her best guy friend, one who loves rom-coms and cries at the drop of a hat. What Harper is unable to see is that Theo is her true love, the guy who is passionate about fencing and Larping, who cannot make it past the first date without falling madly in love with the flavor of the week. Harper tries to teach him how NOT to fall in love, while trying her best to come to terms with becoming over attached with someone she dates. I liked how the parents were super supportive, no one called Harper out for tying up all her time helping her mom with the bridal shop and no one made fun of Theo’s quirkiness and how Felix, who Harper thought was IT, turned out to be an ok guy, not calling out Harper for dumping him. Definitely one for HS collections. How Not To Fall in Love was a quick read, cozy, and very delightful. The “friends-to-lovers” is my favorite trope ever, and I think the author did a great job here with the plot. The first thing I loved was that Harper was working in a bridal shop and helped her mother. However, she witnessed too many weddings and her only relationship with a boy that “she thought was love, but he just let her down,” all of this made her feel that the whole marriage thing is pointless and weddings were a waste of money and effort. However, when she gets to meet up with Theo and deal with him more often, she starts having another thought. I liked the rom-com and the unexpected twist. And I loved all the characters; they were likable and seemed natural to me. Overall, this book nailed my five stars, and I recommend this book to everyone who likes sweet rom-com books. inga recensioner | lägg till en recension

"Harper works in her mom's wedding shop, altering dresses for petulant and picky brides who are more focused on hemlines than love. After years of watching squabbles break out over wedding plans, Harper thinks romance is a marketing tool. Nothing more. Her best friend Theo is her opposite. One date and he's already dreaming of happily-ever-afters. He also plays the accordion, makes chain mail for Ren Festers, hangs out in a windmill-shaped tree house, cries over rom-coms, and takes his word-of-the-day calendar very seriously. When Theo's shocked to find himself nursing his umpteenth heartbreak, Harper offers to teach him how not to fall in love. Theo agrees to the lessons, as long as Harper proves she can date without falling in love. As the lessons progress and Theo takes them to heart, Harper has a harder time upholding her end of the bargain. She's also checking out her window to see if Theo's home from his latest date yet. She's even watching rom-coms. If she confesses her feelings, she'll undermine everything she's taught him. Or was he the one teaching her?" -- Amazon. Inga biblioteksbeskrivningar kunde hittas. |

Lots of the YA romance tropes were hit in this novel but it is what you would expect in a cookie-cutter light and fluffy teen love story. Not too much more to say, but go in with the right expectations and you should enjoy it.
