I was looking for some angsty romances to read, and this book was recommended. I have to be in the mood to read shifter books, but the author has been spoken well of a lot on my social media threads, so I gave it a try.
Killian is the pack's leader, and Una is a lame pariah who's meant to serve the other wolves. When a bond snaps in place, Killian rejects her in front of everyone. He's later forced to acknowledge that Una is his mate, but she wants nothing to do with him any longer.
This is definitely angsty and also a pretty good story. Killian has to assert himself with the rest of the pack while wooing Una. She's small and lame but also doesn't put up with much guff from him. I'll definitely read more from this author. ( )

THE REVIEW
I'm always leery when I start a shapeshifter romance because I'm always worried its going to be corny and poorly written. But sometimes I come across one that just sucks me in from the first page...and Ms. Wells did that easily!

Una was my favorite hero in quite sometime; she was optimistic in spite of her circumstances and handicap. She took care of the other unmated wolves. She held her head high and was kind and thoughtful towards everyone. I spent the whole book praying for her happy ending and wanting to slap across the face.

Killian, ugh, he frustrated me so much! He was a jerk of epic proportions from the start. He was selfish (which Alphas aren't the most self-centered male in the room) and he appeared to be only concerned with sleeping around and training his fighters. He humiliated Una in the worst way and jeopardized Una's health and their future!

So this is one of those books that I find hard to summarize and review properly because to say too much would ruin the book and its secrets for you. Therefore, I am going to keep this short and sweet. Read this book. The pining and the angst. The drama and the reasons for Killian's behavior are epic and I can't wait to forget the plotline so I can read it again! Better yet, off to the next book in the series!

very well done shifter story. The world building is very well done. The characters are well rounded and interesting. There was some sex but it didn't overwhelm the story so that was refreshing. The thing that kept this from another star is that it is written in first person present POV which I hate. ( )
