Suzume has just landed her dream job at a dinosaur park! Enoshima Dinoland is small and struggling financially, but she is eager to help out in any way she can, despite some of her colleagues regarding her with skepticism and questioning her qualifications — after all, her father was the geneticist who achieved the breakthrough that made their successful resurrection possible.

I selected this book to fulfill the Read Harder category "a book based solely on the title" because as a lifelong armchair paleontologist it sounded kind of awesome. And it is pretty adorable. I awwwwed at the depiction of a triceratops contentedly sitting in "loaf" position. The author worked in conjunction with an actual paleontologist, so in addition to the overall storyline there is factual information scattered throughout, which is nice. Looking forward to books 2-4. ( )

What if Jurassic Park was about the zookeepers who took care of the dinosaurs . . . and none of them died? Boring, right?

(Well, okay, one guy did die, but fifteen years prior and offscreen with no gore.)

Dino fans will probably enjoy the educational aspects as each chapter educates about a different creature. The rest of us will probably let our minds wander as we read about good-intentioned caretakers doing their jobs thoughtfully and earnestly.

I have one more volume on hand from the library, so I'll give it a go, but I'm not optimistic about the stories picking up. ( )
