Out of her own rich experience, Fran Taber expands William Penn’s vision for retreats. Her wisdom guides and supports the retreat movement as a significant thread weaving together the ecumenical religious community. This is a wonderful pamphlet addressing the need for periods of silence and solitude, of retreat. Various conditions can especially call for retreat: a spiritual impasse or "dark night of the soul," exhaustion, messiness, and helplessness. But one can seek retreat simply to go into a deeper level of living and wait to see what God does to you, or simply to maintain compassion and awareness of the Presence. She discusses several types of retreat. This pamphlet has many gems; here's one: Julian of Norwich said, "The best prayer is to rest in the goodness of God, knowing that that goodness can reach down to our lowest depths of need." inga recensioner | lägg till en recension

Silence in solitude is meant to prepare a way for the Lord, to clear a straight path for God. The voice crying in the wilderness is the call, the hunger, to go into silence, to go into a place apart to prepare an empty space for God.
This pamphlet speaks to the value of such times of retirement, responds to probing questions about the use of silence, and shares experiences of voluntary and involuntary, short and long retreats. Inga biblioteksbeskrivningar kunde hittas. |
