It is interesting to see and understand the experience of a slave and the way it affected her family. While I have heard many narratives of the experience of slavery, this one struck me because her young son, abused and mistreated by owners responded in the way many modern abused young men respond: with an tendency toward wild behavior. Overall very good, although the pictures and illustrations do not really match the text, which is a little annoying. ( ) Starting from her early life, this book takes us through the remarkable life of Sojourner Truth. Born into slavery, she eventually because a free woman, and a powerful speaker against the injustice of that practice. This is an excellent biography. It does not glorify Truth, nor does it humilate her. It shows the complete woman - brilliant, flawed, strong, frail, and willful. Good biographies do not white-wash their subjects, and this is a good biography. Worth reading. Ingår i serienPriserUppmärksammade listor
