Green Is a Chile Pepper: A Book of Colors av Roseanne Greenfield Thong
Great book for children being introduced to spanish. It introduces the colors as well as a few vocabulary words which can be found in the back glossary.
The rhythm is good and helps the reader to pronounce the Spanish words correctly. The illustrations are cheerful and colorful.
A Wichita Public Library 2015 Big Read companion title. Fun!
diverse picture book (colors / toddler/preschool ages 2-6)
* Book prominently features diverse characters: yes, the main characters belong to a dark-skinned family of Latinx descent. The text is mostly in English, but introduces colors and illustrated terms in Spanish (which are also defined in a glossary at the back).
* Book would work for a toddler/preschool storytime. The text is nice and short, and the identification of the colors invites audience participation. Teachers/readers might struggle a bit with the Spanish pronunciation of the words, and there is no pronunciation guide, but thankfully there are no double-r words for me to fail to roll.
