A Reader's Companion to The Hobbit and The Lord of… av Anonymous
A nice collection of essays and reviews about The Lord of the Rings published by the Quality Paperback Book Club. Includes Ursula K. LeGuin's "The Staring Eye" (originally reprinted in The Language of the Night, now out of print), and essays by Isaac Asimov, C. S. Lewis, W.H. Auden, and Edmund Wilson. A nice cross-section of the reaction to Tolkien's work from 1954 to1992. Highly recommended.
