I can't remember the name of a Regency romance about twin sisters switching places.

Plot: Their father gambled one of the twin's hand in marriage to an English nobleman and lost while abroad in France. The hero catches his betrothed stealing from a drunk man and dislikes her. Instead of returning to England, the twin runs away, forcing the heroine to take her place and pretend to be her twin sister. The hero is harsh to her and doesn't like that she's 'acting' all innocent when he already saw her true colours in France.

The family have no money, so they try to end the engagement without the father having to pay the gambling debt. They get married and grow closer when the truth is finally revealed.

The twin, who ran off with some broke man, keeps coming back asking for money. There's a part where she steals the hero's family heirlooms that he gifted to the heroine, and that causes issues between them.

I've been trying to find this book for a year, so if anyone knows the novel's name, please let me know!

Hi Bluebelle21,

The book was on the list; number 78! It's called Bartered Bride by Anne Herries.

Thanks a lot for sharing the link! Funny enough, I've gone through this list before, but I always lost hope towards the end of the list. If only I had kept looking, I would have found it ages ago, but better late than never!

I also found some new books that I'm looking forward to reading, so thanks for that!

Appreciate your help :)

All the best,
Silvaqua3
