I was shocked to see that the old thread was started in 2019! Time for a new thread. Too bad Youkneek isn't around to start it again.

>1 Karlstar: Thanks for starting the new thread.
I forgot to mention that I don't love the new Matt and that I believe the actor playing Rand has really improved his acting skills since season one.

>2 clamairy: I guess I don't mind the new Matt, but they've given him almost no time to play the character.

Episode 6 is a doozy!!! Incredible acting from Madeleine Madden who plays Egwene. The new Matt is growing on me.

>4 clamairy: Good! We didn't get to watch it last night, I'm looking forward to it.

>4 clamairy: We watched it tonight, I agree, it was very good.

>6 Karlstar: So many changes, but I think they managed to convey the horror of her situation well.
8Karlstar
>7 clamairy: Yes, a lot of changes and there are only 2 more episodes to bring everything together! What's Rand going to do, walk half the continent to Falme? Will Lanfear help him get there? Will the Amyrlin? What's that about, anyway? What about Matt?

>9 majkia: I kind of like the new Matt, but he's been on so little this season. I'm curious to see what he's going to do next.
12Karlstar
>11 clamairy: Agreed, I really enjoyed that one.

We watched the season 2 finale last night. I enjoyed it, but I was surprised it ended where it did, I thought this season of the show was supposed to include more from the third book.

>13 Karlstar: I just finished watching. I thought it seemed like they tried to combine most of the climax of book 2 with a pinch of the end of book 3. Very nice special effects. I understand why they are combining things, because these actors would all be retiring if they did one season per book and then released them every other year.
15Karlstar
>14 clamairy: I completely understand the combining and in some cases the various shortcuts; sometimes I'm kind of impressed they get to the right scene or conclusion most efficiently. On the other hand, I think they let out some good stuff. Not sure what part(s) of book three they included, it almost feels like they are just going to skip all of book three at this point.

>15 Karlstar: The only thing I noticed from the climax of book three is thatRand apparently killed* Ishamael.
*I thought he died at the end of book one, so I'm not sure he's actually dead.

>16 clamairy: Good point. They left out everything else (except maybe Traveling) from book three so I'd discounted that. If they are going to replace all of book three with that one scene in the last episode where three Aiel point at Rand and say 'Car a carn', I'm going to be disappointed.

Does anyone know which books are covered in season two? I’ve already re-read the first three books (The Eye of the World, The Great Hunt and The Dragon Reborn) before watching season one because I read somewhere that they were relevant to the first season.

>18 humouress: Before the season started, they claimed that season two would include books two and three, but that's not what happened. They used some things from book three, but season two was almost entirely book two. I just read that the showrunner said at NY comic-con that season three will include book three and book four. I hope they aren't thinking that the show is popular enough that they can do one book per season, I don't think it can last 14 seasons - and I can't imagine the actors staying with it for, what, 18 years in total? I'm already a little concerned that filming for season three hasn't started yet, I guess they are held up by the actors strike, though you'd think they would have been filming season three months ago.
I read book four, The Shadow Rising back in 2021 to get ready for season two, way too early. I'm thinking about re-reading The Fires of Heaven soon just for the heck of it.

>19 Karlstar: Thanks. Maybe I'll go easy with my re-read then.
I'm also taking a look at Tor.com's 'Read of the Wheel of Time' and their take on the show (which was around this time two years ago).

>20 humouress: I like Tor's write-ups, they are very in depth.
